Avignon, Meal Two → You try to not violate your travel rules. Inevitably, you fail.
I don't know why this is hard. The wife and I learned this early on: Do not eat anywhere close to the town square, for you will be served fucking garbage. We violated this rule on our trip--again--and paid.
It was nearing ten o'clock in Avignon, and we had not eaten. Yes, we were in the fucking town square; yes, we ... tags: gastronomic equivalent, pasta pomodoro, luc besson, public squares, sauteed vegetables, siren song, fusillades, fifth element, everloving, travel rules, toilet seat, gruel, copious amounts, waiters, colossus, worldview, fifteen minutes, grumping, slab, nit Posted at Izzle Pfaff! on December 2, 2008, 1:08 am Things - Zach Smith Lazzzored a Peristaltic Pump →
Zach Smith, fellow NYCResistor and Founder of The RepRap Research Foundation decided that for Lazzzorbattle 2008, he wanted to do something cool. In QCAD, he mocked up a peristaltic pump and after about 5 versions, he had it working and the entire design is cut out of 12″ x 12″ x 1/4″ of acrylic!

A quick review of the facts:
You live in Seattle
You go to Bumbershoot
You whine about ticket prices
Yes, these are pretty much defining characteristics that make you a true Seattleite. But it’s time to break the cycle. Right now you can buy tickets to Bumbershoot 2009 for the insanely low price of $60 for a three-day weekend. It’s the perfect gift for yourself, your friends, and anyone who likes music, art, theater, elephant ears, books, comedy, and ... tags: nyes, bumbershoot, ticket prices, whine, seattle Posted at seattle metroblogging on December 1, 2008, 11:12 pm Turkey Day Numbers → Given the state of affairs in NBA attendance this year, I thought we should take a quick look at how the league fared over the course of the four-day holiday weekend.Thanksgiving means turkey, mashed potatoes, and basketball – at least to NBA fans, anyways. Since October, University Christian Church had been hosting the 100-plus group of homeless people, but the church needed their parking lot back.
Now the UW Daily's story on the student-homeless person cultural interface seems particularly timely.

The new video from San Francisco band Birdmonster showed up in our inbox this morning. "Born To Be Your Man" is off their latest album From the Mountain to the Sea, and the video was directed by local photographer/filmmaker Matt Daniels of Think Lab.
