The Cowlitz River at flood stage. Seattle is being followed by a rain shadow, rain shadow, rain shadow, but most of the rest of the state is not so lucky. A friend of ours just snapped this picture of the Cowlitz River down in southwestern Washington--"Yes, that's an 80-foot tree heading downstream," he added in the caption.
